    Liquid Organic Matter

    Plant Potentiality

To understand what Liquid Organic Matter does, you must first understand the concept of Plant Potentiality.  Plant potentiality is based in the first true principle of growing, that all inputs matter. Many don’t care, or are rather satisfied with their results, and most don’t believe or understand to the depth of what “all inputs” actually means.

The moment a seed or clone is started in propagation, it has an optimal potential, and that potential is much greater than the grower’s reality. With every day there is a loss of potential quality and/or growth of the optimal potential.  Many times in the first 2 weeks of transplanting, there can be up to 10% or more potential loss due to transplant shock.  As a farmer, gardener or grower, environment and physical inputs as in air temperature, humidity, CO2 levels, light, nutrients, trace minerals, organic matter, biology, environmental toxins, disease and pest pressure, etc…. has an affect and will give different results no matter how small.  Simply put, better overall inputs that create less stress translates to better quality and yield.

GreenLife Biotics does not believe in promoting nutrients that grow bigger, better quality plants. GLB products do not grow anything, we just give better nutrients and amendments that helps to reduce stresses allowing your plant to get closer to optimal potential.  We see in terms of each plant, on day one, has an optimal potential and with each passing day stresses from all inputs limit the potential growth of those plants. GLB cannot control most of the inputs above but we can create products which reduce biotic and abiotic stresses that are caused by those other inputs.  The more stress we remove the closer to the optimal potential is attainable.

Farmers and growers that use Liquid Organic Matter see it seemingly create healthy growth out of some of the harshest conditions, but the reality is, it removes a stress or stresses that allow biology to work with the plant to grow closer to its potential.  Our farmers see visible change in the plants within 24-72 hours, or if indoors and is added into a nutrient recipe midway through a growing cycle they see similar visible changes in the plant for the better. So, what is Liquid Organic Matter?  It’s more than our competitors average and above average humic acids.

Liquid Organic Matter 12% Humic Acid

To qualify, all humic acids are nothing close to the same.  There is a distinction between humic acid created from a compost or manure, rather than humates that are 100,000s of years old and decomposed long ago.  Liquid Organic Matter (LOM) is the latter, and a drastically different quality but a critical result of the product comes in how it was processed.  LOM is derived from a natural oxidation of lignite mined from compressed animal and plant matter formed over 1000s of years, but the availability of the product to your plant is in the process to have salts, heavy metals and non-humate substances removed from the end product to make it so highly available to the plant.  Humic acids can be qualified as all organic compounds within humates, which includes more than just humic acid, fulvic acid, and humin. We don’t speak to our processes or products and for reason.  If our Organic Chemist can create products that no one but a few can, we are not telling our competitors how we do it.  So in part due to that, we will not be the biggest of companies because we share very little outside of the agencies that certify our products, but people will start to understand what our products do.

So why do we mention this? It matters.

There is a varying degree of humates found from less than 30% to over 90% in mines across the country.  Not only do we start with the highest quality base material of over 90% humate substances but our organic chemist separates and pulls out not only the non-humate substances but also the salts and heavy metals.   Humic acid as with humates contain several acids including humic and fulvic with other organic compounds as well. As LOM is a mined ore based product, we remove heavy metals but do not make guarantees to the 60 plus minerals that may be in the product as well. We only say that in general, one of the main functions of humic acid is to help increase the permeability of the cell walls to allow for easier nutrient uptake.  Where fulvic acid, as we have in Enhance MC and our Fulvic 20, acts as a chelator to grab hold of the minerals and help carry them to the plants.

What do we see by using Liquid Organic Matter in the field as well as indoors?

The best way to describe it would be it compartmentalizes what is in your soil and pulls up what is needed.  It helps with both biotic and abiotic stresses.  Biotics stresses are anything living and abiotic stresses are nonliving (salts, wind, temperature, etc.) as in the environment.  Every input matter and affects the nature of the plant’s health.  Liquid Organic Matter helps to create a higher quality with less plant stress.

The less a plant stresses the closer it can get to its optimal potential.  Like black oil, it coats the roots to help protect and aid in both soil and soilless mediums.  Some of its other functions include:

One of the most important features of humates is in their ability to chelate or bind insoluble metal ions, oxides, and hydroxides, which promote their uptake by the roots, and then release them to the plants when required.

Our GLB Clean Mineral based Potassium in several of our products is a clean potassium hydroxide. So as mentioned above, Liquid Organic Matter coats the roots, it holds our potassium, other nutrients & trace minerals at the root zone and releases as needed. LOM also reduces leaching on mineral based nutrients out of pots and different soils.

In addition, Liquid Organic Matter contains extremely high cation-exchange capacities (CEC) as well as anion exchange capacities (AEC). You will see you can change the amount of watering based on varying the LOM application rates.  As well as it helps to reduce the reaction of phosphorus with Ca, Fe, and Mg and makes it more available. As a food source for the soil food web, micro-organisms have a long chain carbon food source, which creates healthier microbes rather than just a medium or short chain carbon. It can help to stimulate plant enzymes and enhance the plant’s natural resistance against disease and pests with higher quality humate substances.

    Visible Field Results

In the end, we have found Liquid Organic Matter help in all crops but with regards to hemp we see a higher rate of secondary metabolites in the vegetative and flower phases.  What you will see is a higher quality end product.

    Propagation

LOM can be used at 1-2 mL per gallon of water during the last watering prior to transplant to help with transplant shock of any seedlings or clones.

    Small Home Garden

    In Season Application

     Indoor Application rates

Though LOM is an excellent product we recommend to only be used in non-drip line applications of a mix and feed by hand.  Over time if the lines are not flushed out LOM will start to clog.  There are work arounds and in certain circumstances the use of Dry Organic Matter to replace the quality benefits seen though its use.

If transplanting a small plant into a large pot only use at 1 mL 1 time a week until roots take or it may hold too much water, so watering becomes every 4-5 days instead of 2-3 days.

    Field Application

Any amount is a benefit but for all crops including Hemp optimal levels are 3-4 gallons per acre but recommend at least 1 gallon through a 4-month season.

LOM can be used in micro drip emitters if at the end of the nutrient application drip lines have fresh water ran through to clear the lines during the same application.

*Before buying a humic acid find out what is the source material.  All inputs from soil to nutrients, organic or not, should have a heavy metals test associated with the product.  You should review any testing of any mined product or soil that is pre-packaged or in bulk. *
